Add friend Facebook

Friends are the foundation of your Facebook experience. Adding friends gives you many more people to interact with and your news page will be filled with different opinions and thoughts.

Facebook has changed the process for sending friend requests and is now much faster. Keep reading this guide to learn how to increase the number of friends on your list.

Find the person you want to add. You can use the search bar at the top of the Facebook page to search for anyone who uses Facebook either by name or email. Click on the result to open that person's profile.

You can also navigate to open a person's profile by clicking on their name in a post they have commented on.

See where you know it from. When you visit a person's profile, you can see if they share mutual friends. This can be helpful in remembering where you know him from.

Click the "Add to Friends" button. This button can be found in two locations. You can find one to the right of the person's name at the top of the page. And the other can be found at the top of the profile, under "Do you know (name)?". This button is green.

Clicking the "Add Friends" button will change it to a "Friend Request Sent" button. Clicking this button will open the menu of actions you can take, such as canceling the friend request or suggesting more friends to your new friend.

Add a friend using an email

Facebook allows you to search for friends by e-mail. With this email search feature, you can send a Facebook friend request to the person you want to add to your friend's list. The person has to accept your friend request before it appears on your Facebook friends list.

Enter the email address of the person you want to add as a friend in the Facebook search bar.
Click "Add Friend" to send a friend request to the Facebook member associated with the email address you entered.
Wait for the person who sent the friend request to accept your request. As soon as this person accepts your Facebook friend request, Facebook automatically adds the person to your Facebook friends list.

Add a person when the option to add my friends does not appear?

In case you want to send a friend request to a person who has the button enabled to only add friends of their friends, the options are a bit limited.

Send him a message

Write a private message to the person you want to add to your group of friends. Surely if he meets you right away he will accept your friend request.

The downside to sending you a private message is that since you're not friends, the message doesn't go straight to your main inbox, but rather to the Other's inbox. If so, the person may be slow to read the message or simply not see it.

Add a friend of that person

Another possibility is to find a friend that you know you have in common and add them. Add that person first and they would already have a mutual friend.

Once that person has accepted you, you go back to the profile of the person you want to add and the settings should have changed. The add friends button should now appear enabled.
